Club History ( More in-depth Version)

The Ocean Gate Yacht Club, located at the foot of Ocean Gate Avenue and the Toms River is the second oldest yacht club represented in the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association, being in existence since 1909.  In its beginning, not only did the board of Governors meet during the active summer months here in Ocean Gate, then only a small resort town, but met year round in Philadelphia to discuss and plan the future of the Ocean Gate Yacht Club. 

The History of Ocean Gate Yacht Club has been created by members who have supported the ideal of camaraderie through seamanship and friendship.  Many of our current members are third generation members who have forged lifelong friendships because of their association and commitment to the Ocean Gate Yacht Club.
